Thoughts on Web Design from the TemplateMonster
Thoughts on Web Design from the TemplateMonster

Marketing is actually a science, which explores the minds of customers. This principle is fundamental and should be always considered not only in marketing, but also in web design.

So, how can you make your business successful on the web? Well, the first thing you need to do is to launch an attractive website.

But how will you do it?

Taking into consideration the point that marketing is mostly the understanding of the customer, and leveraging the valuable experience of TemplateMonster, let's outline the most important features of successful web design.

Minimalism

People do not need a lot of elements, they are tired of this since Web 2.0. The latest trend is minimalism: the fewer elements your website has, the more attractive it will be for visitors. As for the minimalist background, it can be implemented through the big white space or the full screen illustration. The typography style should be simple and clear. Don't overweight the main page with the text and pictures: give just the information visitors should know about your company. The amount of functional widgets should be minimized, leave only those which are needed for you particularly.

Responsive Layouts

Mobile web is not only growing, but also has potential to overgrow the usual internet. And it's not surprising, because for most people it's much more comfortable to check quickly something they need from the smartphone, than from the stable PC.
People hate when your site looks terrible on their smartphones. When they cannot read the text and view the pics comfortably, they just leave the website. Would it be profitable for your business? I think not.

Parallax Scrolling

Parallax scrolling is a special technique, when background images move slower, than the foreground images. It has been used in 2D games and then migrated to web design. The effect is wonderful: it makes the website look more volumetric and live, this definitely catches the user's eye.

More Video

You may be the type of person who prefers reading to watching videos (as me, for example). However, the statistics show we are exceptions, because most people like videos and watch the incredible amount of them. So, if you're thinking of putting some representational illustrations on the main page, video is likely a better choice. But in any case don't forget about the minimalism principle – the clip shouldn't be intrusive.

Non-dogmatic Conclusion

The 4 aforementioned elements should be the main principles you should focus on, if you want your web marketing strategy and your business to be successful. But they are not axioms: you should always consider the specialties of your activity and customize the style of your website according to that. I think this is the main rule to follow and it would be true always, regardless the fugitive web design trends.

Please comment if you have anything to respond.

Art Rivera: Deeply interested in everything connected with Internet, I sincerely suppose the web is the only future reality for the humanity through its inevitable involving into every part of human life. I'm not a great fan of cyberpunk concept, but the world is keeping that certain direction of total connectedness. And of course there should be someone, who can write the history, who would describe and analyze and enter in the record all notable changes and tendencies on the web. Hello, it's me.
